MasterCard Makes Corworks' Data Management Solution the Cornerstone of MCIdeas Data Warehouse Architecture

Corworks Powers MasterCard’s 40 Terabyte Data Management Platform.

March 29, 2002. (STAMFORD, CT) Using Corworks industry leading technology, MasterCard International has created one of the largest data management platforms in the world. This initiative represents a dramatic advance for the credit card industry enabling data management with greater accessibility and flexibility than was previously possible.

With Corworks™ powering the core of their technology, MasterCard has constructed a massive 40-terabtye data management platform that houses several years of critical credit card authorization detail, clearing, and chargeback data for their MasterCard data warehouse. With Corworks, MasterCard’s 40-terabytes of credit card data has been compressed down to an 8-terabyte data management platform while still enabling complete access and manipulation of the data in its compressed form.

Corworks™ plays a critical role in MasterCard’s ability to more efficiently extract and manipulate targeted data sets providing a more complete profile to aid the decision-making process. Product scalability, data organization and data currency provide the environment necessary to make these online quick, accurate, sophisticated data pulls possible, in the format required while leveraging long-term hardware investments.

"Corworks software is an integral part of our data management strategy that has enabled us to build a world-class data management platform housing several years of transaction level data. Corworks allows quick, convenient and customized access to targeted data subsets. This is critical to the overall support of our member banks," says Andrew Clyne, VP of MasterCard International. "We have roughly 40 terabtytes of data managed in our Corworks repositories. Corworks is the linchpin that allows us to effectively manage all of this data."

"Corworks Data Exchange represents a paradigm shift in the way we will exchange data with our issuing banks. We believe we can significantly reduce the time and complexity required to exchange data with our members while providing MasterCard with the ability to design new sophisticated product offerings." says Andrew Clyne.

Brian Farrell, Chief Executive Officer of Corworks , applauded the work being done at MasterCard, saying: "The MasterCard project is a clear example of the power and flexibility available with the Corworks products. This initiative represents one of our largest installations and demonstrates once again our ability to design and deliver superior products in the big data management market."
